Pascendi Dominici Gregis
Pascendi Dominici Gregis
Dismantle the Modernists with Pope St. Pius X
Reading the Encyclical Pascendi, one can easily see the connection between Modernism and the core problems of Novus Ordo doctrine (religious liberty, ecumenism, moral laxity, and so on): it proceeds from Agnosticism, and also to some extent from Immanentism (in the sense that any religion has some validity as the fruit of a personal religious experience) as well as Evolutionism (the idea that religious doctrine can and has to change to keep pace with the evolution of mankind).
Therefore, it is of the greatest importance for Catholics of today to look back at the Modernist crisis of the early 20th century, read Saint Pius X’s teachings and find some answers about how to address the problems which the Catholic world is facing right now. The same fight of this saintly Pope against Modernism is still raging today, more than ever before. It is a blessing that in this fight, we can not only benefit from the prayers of St. Pius X from Heaven, but also hear his very voice teach and counsel us through the encyclicals and other magisterial texts he left us.
